LYNDA SMITH IS AN ARTIST IN TAOS, NEW MEXICO
THE JOY OF CREATING ART IS IN THE JOURNEY.
I search for harmony, rhythm, and flow of energy in my work, and seek to share the sense of peace and beauty that I experience while creating it. While I was an art student at NYU, my professor, Sherman Drexler, said, "As artists we strive to contribute to the world’s collective sanity." That view becomes more relevant each year, and remains my purpose in creating art. I approach my work with respect for materials and tools. I hover over and woo the stone, clay or paint. It might be a wrestling match, but we become part of each other. The earth gives these materials, and through them I strive to give back new forms. My passion drives me to create works that vibrate with life.
